event support

TOPS specialises in promotional activity and event support. This is achieved through close liaison with sponsors and event organisers to develop an understanding of their marketing needs and the best means of benefiting from an association with TOPS.

TOPS is regularly invited to motoring events throughout Europe in order to help organisers achieve the kind of high calibre spectacle that always spells success. As organisers will well appreciate, events are often judged by the quality of the participation eg. the historical significance of the competing cars, the relevance of the cars to the particular town/circuit/country. Whatever the requirement, TOPS is usually able to provide the answer.

Over the past few years, TOPS has provided event support for numerous races, rallies, demonstrations and parades:

This support, ranging from entire grid formation, to provision of a single car with a particular history for a display, has involved:

At each event, TOPS recognises the need of the organiser to provide spectator value. Cars are always attractively displayed even whilst in the paddock, event sponsors decals are clearly visible, and media interviews are appropriately enthusiastic.

Killarney, Cape Town, South Africa - February

A Team of cars were shipped to South Africa, while their owners flew out to this very relaxed race meeting. It was held in sunshine and after the racing there was plenty of time for looking at the beauty of the country. TOPS cars were a varied group and all behaved well - a Cooper T43, Ferrari GTO, McLaren, Cooper Bristol..

Liège-Rome-Liège rally - June

TOPS provided a Team consisting of three 1950s Frazer Nash, Jaguar C type and a TR3a. The route was 2400 km through Belgium, Germany and Italy - the Ardennes, German Alps, Dolomites, numerous mountain passes including the Stelvio, through Florence and on to Rome. 141 cars entered and 87 finished including the whole TOPS team despite some brake problems and a broken half shaft which was replaced by the team on the side of the road. An exhausting but enjoyable event organised by Motor Union Classic of Belgium.

La Sicilia e la Targa Florio - September

TOPS sent a Team of historic Alfa Romeos to Sicily to join 60 Alfa Romeo cars from R.I.A.R. to celebrate the 90^th year of ALFA. Ten days of tourism, excellent food, entertainment, sightseeing and special visits to numerous 'important' places. An amazing trip! Report

Grand Prix of Tunisia - November

Another Team of historic cars went from TOPS and their owners had a marvellous time - high speed demonstrations on an unusual circuit along the sea front and masses of sight-seeing and sunshine. The team consisted of a Grand Prix Talbot Lago, Tipo B Alfa Romeo, Frazer Nash Targa Florio, Amilcar, Ferrari, Bugatti and ERA. Tunisia G.P. Report.

TOPS also had Teams entered in rallies and races in Slovenia, Monaco, Nürburgring, Stormont, Goodwood, the Mille Miglia, Silverstone and Donington. It is a busy and fun year!
