Rétromobile 2003
The famous Paris Rétromobile exhibition
which takes place in February every year remains one of the best shows to visit
and attracts over 100,000 people in ten days. It was originally started by Marc
Nicolosi and has grown enormously. A few years ago he sold it to Hervé Ogliastro
(of the Louis Vuitton family) and now, in its 28th year, the show
has been sold by Ogliastro to COMEXPO-Paris. Marc's team of organisers will
remain but Marc moves to pastures new.

This really is a show which everyone
should visit - you can be fairly certain that you will meet more people you
know than you could have thought possible, people fly in from all over the
world - in fact it becomes difficult to get around the 300 stands because of
the talking which ensues. The standard of exhibition is very high and is helped
by involvement from some of the large manufacturers like Citroen, BMW and
Peugeot who displayed an 1810 coffee grinder which, with pepper mills, was
their original business. Model cars, paintings, sculptures, posters, spare
parts, machinery, 70 car clubs, motorcycles, books and rare cars are all there.
Spare part goodies can still be found - although it is becoming more difficult.
And if you must go to an auction - well there is one of those too (Christies).
